Find legit jobs online (definitely not a scam)

If you’re seeking gainful employment, Western’s Student Employment Center is a great place to get a job on or off-campus. The website lists jobs and the qualifi- cations necessary, as well as a contact and application for each position! You can find a variety of jobs, from on-campus positions as a gallery attendant or tutor, to off-campus babysitting or service positions.
The Western Student Employment Center is a lot like Craigslist for students. Jobs advertised on this site are specifically available to students, so your employer will understand working around your school schedule.
Be careful though! Private employers may try to pay you less for the work you do because you’re in college. Proceed with caution when it comes to jobs like yard work and furniture moving. You could be scammed out of your time and money.
Especially important to remember when looking for jobs is to disregard those flyers all around campus that say things like “Need $$$ for Books?”
They are scams.
It can be hard to spot employment scams, but here’s a good rule of thumb: if they want you to pay any money to start the job, it’s a scam. If they refuse to meet in person, it’s a scam. If it seems too good to be true, it probably is. Be wary of jobs that you are most definitely underqualified for; someone wants to hire you as a personal assistant when you have no experience? Probably a scam.
A good rule of thumb is to google any sketchy email you receive. Chances are this is a large scam and other people have been sent similar messages. Above all, trust your gut.
Thankfully, all the employers on the Student Employment website have to be vetted, so there’s a low chance you’re being set up with Ted Bundy. Still, keep your wits about you whenever looking for jobs online.
The student employment center is an awesome resource for Western students. Get out there and make some cash!
