What did you want to be when you grew up?
As a kid I was really worried about having a job that would make me miserable, so I wanted to be fun and happy when I grew up.
Which celebrity would you want to play you in a movie and what kind of movie is it?
I would go for an animated feature done by Kent Monkman or Cristy Road who are two of my favorite artists. They don’t do cartoons, but they should.
What are you reading right now/ most recently?
The two I’ve been teaching this week, which are “Gay Seattle” which is a history of Seattle’s lesbian and gay community from the 1890’s to 1990’s, and Evolution’s Rainbow, which is a biologist’s account of how certain scientists deny the diversity in gender and sexuality in the natural world.
Aside from the necessities, what are the three things you could not go a day without?
Coffee, maple syrup and brushing my teeth.
What country do you want to spend 10 years living in?
That is a really tough one. I spent some time in Costa Rica, Nicaragua and Fiji and a few other places, all very nice, but I think I would most like to live in the United States for the foreseeable future.
If you could join any past or current music group, which would you want to join and why?
My favorite band in the world is this Canadian group called Propagandhi. I kind of like watching more than being part of that. I don’t think I have the chops to handle that, but if we’re living in a fantasy world, I’ll join Propagandhi.
