Crow Chloupek
Hi, my name is Crow and I use they/them pronouns! Throughout my two years at Western, I’ve had the opportunity to be closely involved with several Environmental & Sustainable programs we offer on campus including sitting on the SEJF for two years, volunteering at the Outback Farm last year, & attending the Western Intersectional Lobby Day this year.
During my time here, I’ve found that many of the programs tend to attract the same people year after year, many of whom tend to be of the same demographic. In my term, I would like to address these issues & provide additional support for students of marginalized identities to better access these spaces.
I would also like to address issues of accessibility for disabled students within these programs. I believe that many of these programs do not take students like me into as much consideration as they could.
Jesse Bass
My name is Jesse Bass and I am a 1st generation college student entering my senior year. I come from a low socioeconomic upbringing in Anacortes, Washington, but found my way into Western Washington University on full ride scholarships with passions for renewable energy, environmental justice, corporate responsibility and social equity. I am pursuing a Business and Sustainability degree concentrating on energy, with a minor in international business. Throughout my childhood I grew up worrying about availability of food, water, shelter, clothing and utilities, and because of these challenges I have chosen to dedicate my life to working with others in order to achieve sustainability in all aspects of life; wealth should not be a requirement for sustainable living. Issues regarding sustainability require collective actions and efforts and I look to get WWU students, faculty and staff involved with making a positive impact on our environment right here at home.
Trevor Mullins
If elected ASVP for Sustainability I will strive to include the wants and needs of Western’s campus community as it applies to the many complex ideas of sustainability. During my time serving as a member of Sustainability Reps in Edens Hall my freshman year, the Huxley college student body, Students for the Salish Sea, and Students for Renewable Energy I have been able to have a fluid and complex understanding of what sustainability may mean to different groups, individuals, or institutions. With that knowledge, I will ensure that the many definitions and meanings of sustainability from staff, faculty, and students are heard through socials, one-on-ones, and committees. I will push for actual transparency and student involvement in any decision, project, or statement affecting the true sustainable nature of Western and not simply its image as a sustainable institution, such as reaching the goals set in the Sustainable Action Plan.
