Dear readers,
A late welcome to spring quarter! It may not be what many of us planned for, or expected, but we’re here and we’re going to get through it. The AS Review made the full transition to online at the beginning of the 2019 academic year. We are fortunate that we don’t need to make many adjustments for this quarter online. We will continue to bring you news about campus — online, physical or otherwise — and student stories.
We are venturing into a new format this quarter, a podcast! I hope you’re as excited about it as we are. The podcast, “Tripping on Bricks,” will focus on student stories, stories by and about YOU! Our first episode, out April 30, will focus on how you — our readers and fellow students — are transitioning into the online learning environment. What has changed for you? How is this whole situation affecting you personally? If you’re interested in sharing your story and how you’re adjusting to this new life, check out asreview.org/podcast on how to make your voice heard. Submit up until Monday, April 27!
Our introduction episode is out now! It gives you a feel for our format and how it will sound for future episodes. All episodes are recorded by the editors, PJ and I, from the comfort of our individual homes. You can listen to it on Spotify, Apple Podcasts or read the transcript on our podcast page.
We want to hear from anyone and everyone. We are all in different positions, but we are experiencing this shift together. We will be accepting either up to 30 second clips of audio in which you talk about your current situation, or up to 200 words of text, which we would be reading for you. Please also provide your name, year at Western and your pronouns.
In these next few weeks of spring quarter the AS Review will share stories of fellow students, wherever you are or may be. We want to hear from you. Reach out, share a letter to the editor, an opinion story, a short text, video, image, etc. We want it all.
Best of luck out there and stay safe.
