Hello fellow WWU students! My name is Naira, and I am running for ASVP for diversity. I am a Bolivian immigrant and a current student at both WWU and Fairhaven College. I am currently majoring in Law, Diversity, and Justice with a minor in Political Science. My roots as an immigrant have ignited a passion in me for inclusion, intersectionality, and equity both in and out of the academic field. If I were to win this position my focus would be on amplifying the voices and meeting the needs of underrepresented communities with an emphasis on intersectionality, inclusivity, and community building. It is a well-known fact that diversity on campus enriches all of our college experience, yet the focus is more on getting those diverse communities in the classroom – not keeping them. I want to create an environment where marginalized communities feel not only safe but inspired to learn.
