Evan Asche
Hello, my name is Evan. I’m a junior here at western, and I like melting cans in my free time. I think it’s important for students to have a wide range of options in who they vote for, which is why I am running. I have no experience in student leadership, and I have no specific goals in mind for this position. I will perform the duties necessary for this position, and advocate for issues I am informed of. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns about my running, email me (aschee@wwu.edu). I will respond. Thanks for reading!
Cole Burk
Hello everyone, I’m Cole! As a current WWU first-year, I’m super excited to be running for an At-Large position within our Student Senate. The ASWWU Student Senate shares a huge responsibility representing the student body by dealing with complex and crucial issues that require much needed attention. I would make it my goal to ensure that the position is handled carefully while also being optimistic about how far we can push for much needed change. I am interested in running for this position because I genuinely care about how this institution can improve and do a better job of taking care of its students. If elected, I would be working in coordination with the Associated Students Executive Board on key issues to ensure involvement and representation so voices don’t go unheard in the decision-making process. It is my hope that you’ll elect me for this upcoming election 🙂
Eric Glen Dawson
My name is Eric Glen Dawson and I am interested in running for ASWWU Student Senator, I already have experience with the campaign system as I have ran for ASVP of Sustainability and Student Senator before. Now I would like to get experience holding office and contribute to a healthy and inclusive atmosphere at WWU. I am eager to serve as an ASWWU Senator because I want to learn more and get experience holding office. In addition, I want to help others and I feel this position would help me do so more effectively. If elected, I would like to focus on addressing the BSO demands and find a way to work together.
Anna Hedrick
My name is Anna Hedrick (she/her pronouns) and I am running for At-Large Senator, so I can continue supporting and representing the constituency at Western, with a strong focus on the needs and equal representation of the BIPOC community. This spring, I served as an At-Large Senator, directly working with other senators, including the Pro-Tempore, and AS organizations. I’m a qualified candidate with strong communication and listening skills, and I aim to understand the needs and concerns of the student body and faculty, in order to develop effective solutions. For instance, I support environmentally sustainable measures. Also, I’m currently working to improve on-campus dining. I will continue advocating for and elevating the voices of BIPOC individuals, whether it’s supporting BSO demands or working closely with the Ethnic Student Center. I am motivated to create progressive changes that benefit the constituency at Western and I kindly ask for your vote.
Jasleen Kaur
I am Jasleen Kaur. I was born in India and it’s been a while since I moved to the States. I discovered new things, met new people and got familiar with their traditions and cultures. I was an at- large senator at the University last year. It was a great experience, worked with amazing people and worked on various topics. I also was a senator at Whatcom Community College for one school year. I developed real life skills including leadership, project management, budget management, parliamentary procedures and represented student voices in the college decision making. I want more students to know about the Senate so they are aware someone is there for them as a family to help. Since I am Punjabi, I would like to represent my culture in the Senate. I want to advocate student concerns, raise awareness about things, make new connections, and to make all the students of WWU feel welcomed, heard and to make their school experience even better.
Daniela Reyes
Hello there everyone, I’m Daniela Reyes (she/her) and I am running for the position of At-Large Senator. I have previous experience being in this position for Spring Quarter and I was also in executive positions in student government in high school. I am running for this position because I want to be able to hear the concerns of all students, and help instill change so that everyone here at Western can feel comfortable and supported. As a Latina first-generation student, I would love to help ensure that students of all backgrounds can feel safe and welcome, no matter what it takes.
Sam Sullivan
As Western transitions to in-person classes during the 2021-22 school year, the University will likely encounter several questions that pertain to safety and class instruction. In the student senate, I hope to aid our University in its mission to provide an adequate and safe education to all students. I firmly believe that as a University, Western’s primary objective should be to provide the best possible education. Therefore, as Western plans for the long-term, I wish to advocate for policies that improve opportunities to learn. I would love to hear your input on issues that concern your education. I would be honored if you considered to vote for me, Sam Sullivan, to represent your student senator.
