VOTE HERE

The students running to represent the Graduate School are: Kristina Kelehan, Parke O’Leary and Samia Quidwai.

Kristina Kelehan

My name is Kristina Kelehan, and I am running as a senator to represent the graduate school in the ASWWU Senate. This is my first year at WWU as part of the History Graduate program and a teaching assistant. As a first-generation college student, I am passionate about increasing opportunities for equity and inclusion in all aspects of higher education, and as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community I am fully committed to advancing equity in all aspects of life, both on and off campus. From my personal experiences, as well as my time in undergrad working with fellow first-generation and LGBTQIA+ individuals, my work at the senate will focus on finding more ways to ensure WWU is an inclusive, equitable, and diverse environment for all students in and out of the classroom.

Parke O’Leary

I would like to run for the Student Senate as a representative for the Graduate school as an active MBA student. I would like to help make a difference for students and make sure that the thoughts and opinions of my fellow MBA candidates can be heard and are represented, as well as helping make sure students in general are represented properly in the Senate and other committees.

Samia Quidwai

As a first generation, Muslim, immigrant woman of color, I am concerned about the absence of diverse voices and the need for action towards inclusion, and representation at the graduate level. I am a second year Doctor of Audiology candidate and have held the position of Graduate Senator this year. I make time to listen to each graduate student’s concern around their schedule, because I know we are busy! Graduate students contribute academically and financially to the university and it is vital for our voice to be heard. This year, I serve on the Graduate Review committee where I interview fellow graduate students on their experience during their program and how to improve in areas such as; BIPOC recruitment, student insurance plans, and tuition, just to name a few. I hope to continue serving the graduate student body this year with your support!
