If you’ve lived in Bellingham long enough, you have most definitely heard of Boomer’s Drive-in. Almost with a reputation similar to Seattle’s Dicks Drive-in, the classic 1950s-esque burger joint is a restaurant unlike any other.

With their iconic distinction, they take it a step further every January and February. Known as ‘Boom-uary’, Boomer’s has their annual sale, where every burger is half off at the low price of $3.55 with the burger of your choice.
Their burgers aren’t just the only iconic thing, milkshakes and curly fries are also widely renowned. Though they do not sell their infamous curly fries during this time, this deal is something that most people can’t pass up. Having already been there myself thrice since January, this sale is no laughing matter as they celebrate their 35th anniversary.
As little has changed over the course of its opening since 1989, according to Boomer’s website, this drive-in restaurant has been a staple icon for many ‘Belling-hamsters’. With multiple decades past, people who enjoyed this place as teenagers now take their kids and their grandkids to this famous joint.
When Boom-uary shows up every year, it’s not just a cash-grab from customers, it’s become a local holiday where people can celebrate and enjoy the food that has connected the community together over generations.

Opening at 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. from Sunday to Thursday, and 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday, this eatery is packed full of people during Boomuary. Whether it be cars filling up each parking spot in the drive-in section to the hoards of folks inside of the shop, this little restaurant does not stop from their opening to close.
Head on over to Samish Way and stroll inside or put your car in park, and join the rest of Bellingham’s population if you already haven’t, and experience the wonderful taste of a good burger as well as a good bargain in this wintery season before the end of February.
