Welcome to Wavelength’s Fall 2024 installment of Style Spotlight!
This quarter I captured a variety of people, both new and returning, and their clothes, both current and vintage, purchased new at the store or found hidden in boxes stacked in the basement. The days are getting shorter and colder, and campus style is being taken in ways distinct to each person. The first day of Style Spotlight was particularly crisp, so I spent a decent chunk of time inside the library watching people approach the camera from an entrance. It didn’t help that I was extremely sick that week, so there were three or four giant bottles of Gatorade and water behind the table that my coworkers and I had set up that morning.
For the second day of the spotlight, I was even more sick than I had been the first day. With the rest of the Wavelength team either in class or sick at home, I was tasked with setting up all of the equipment alone I could feel my lungs burn and my body tremble as I hauled everything to Red Square. This was my first time doing the Style Spotlight, which was a unique experience that gave me the chance to witness all of the different styles and outfits that people wore as they wandered across campus to their classes.
Take a thorough look through the catalog of photographs that capture the many different styles and aesthetics of Western students’ fashion. A special thank you to everyone who participated in this quarter’s Style Spotlight, and we hope to see both new and familiar faces in front of the camera in the winter.
