Gaza Monologues
ASHTAR Theatre is a Palestinian theatre, asking folks to read out the ‘Gaza Monologues’, which are testimonies from various Palestinians based off their experiences during the war since the first war in the Gaza Strip in 2010. According to their website, it is said,
“Due to the horrific war taking place in Gaza, is launching an urgent request to all its friends and theater makers around the world to publicly read or perform The Gaza Monologues on November 29th, 2023; The International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People – a significant day for those who value justice, equality, and freedom for the Palestinian people. The Gaza Monologues are testimonies written by ASHTAR youth in 2010, after the first war on the Gaza Strip. Tragically, these Monologues are still accurate today. They are highlighting the horrors, hopes and resilience of the courageous Gazans to a wider audience, bringing out the voices of children and people in Gaza.”
“Since October 2010 to date, more than 2000 youth from around the Globe in more than 80 cities in 40 countries have presented the monologues that are translated and presented into 18 languages. People from around the World became more aware and in solidarity with of our just cause. Despite that, Gaza is still under siege – since 2006, and the occupation is more brutal than ever; attacking civilians, destroying the land and hindering the life of the inhabitants of the Gaza Strip.” — Iman Aoun, Artistic Director of ASHTAR Theatre
