Associated Students elections for spring 2020 look a little different because of the COVID-19 pandemic, this is a guide to help navigate the changes.

For this spring election season, students will be voting for AS Executive Board positions. AS board positions are AS president, AS VP for activities, AS VP for diversity, AS VP for governmental affairs, AS VP for student services, AS VP for sustainability and Senate Pro-tempore.

The biggest change is the election will be completely online, but what does that mean?

In-person campaigning has been banned for this election. Candidates have been asked to campaign through social media or websites. Candidate forums will be held virtually via Microsoft Teams on April 28 and April 30 for this election season. Links to the candidate forums will be sent out by AS Elections Coordinator Ina LaGrandeur closer to the election, and will be shared on the Associated Students Facebook page and the AS REP Facebook page

Voting will be done on the Western Involvement Network [WIN]. Students who are eligible to vote will need to log in on WIN and click on the ballot on the WIN homepage to vote. Students are eligible to vote in this election if they are enrolled at Western’s main campus or are studying abroad during the academic quarter that elections are taking place.

Students will be able to view candidates on the AS REP website after the candidate meeting. Campaigning will begin on April 21.

Voting will begin at 12:00 am on May 4 and close at 4:00 pm on May 8.
