I’m running for AS President because I believe in our future.

As AS President I’ll work on:

1.       TRANSPARENCY Be honest and proactive about AS spending of student dollars.  Develop avenues for student access on university level information and decision making.  Tell the truth about where we are with diversity and equity and where we need to go.

2.       SUSTAINABILITY. Ban the purchase of most single use plastics with AS money.  Work with the VP for Sustainability to create a mandatory waste education program for incoming students.

3.       ACCESSIBILITY.  Work on physical campus accessibility especially through advocacy for multi-occupancy gender-neutral bathrooms.  Put students’ basic needs before spending on non-essential projects.

4.       COMMUNITY: Advocate for creative and inclusive programming to bring AS resources to broader ranges of students.  Support the ESC, clubs, and Campus Recreation in creating a thriving, connected student body.

My name is Abdul Malik Ford I am running for AS President. As a Black Muslim man, I advocate, champion and put in work towards bringing about justice and holding the administration here at WWU accountable for what they’ve committed to, and what they need to do. I want to continue contributing my energy to reform the way the university operates and form a focus group to evaluate and restructure the very policies that we are running on. I will use this opportunity to empower the students here the same way that I was so that people will increasingly emerge from our communities as change-makers and leaders. Representation is important and it exists! Ecological and social sustainability must be prioritized! As leaders, we need to be helping to create sustainable social practices and programming and providing resources for those who need it most, so that we as a university can carry on year to year with consistency and achievement. #amf4as
