Walking with Wavelength: Valentine’s Day Edition

Produced and Edited by: Abbey Raynes

Taking on the antithesis of Valentine’s Day, we decided to ask you, “what is your favorite heartbreak song?” As Sophia and I stood out in the Red Square, we were fraught with anxiety, rushing up to people that were strolling by and asking them if they were busy. Out of all the times I have done this specific segment, this was by far the most rejected we had ever been, as people had classes to go to or didn’t want to participate [which was completely understandable as Sophia and I probably looked like rabid dogs with sweaty faces and eyes that looked like they could kill]. Taking that into account, it actually blended well with this video’s theme because rejection therapy is scary but also felt weirdly relieving in a way. Putting all anxiety aside, the ability to just walk up to someone, all carefree, was slightly refreshing because we could make fun of ourselves in the process.

As someone who is deathly afraid of putting themselves out there, this year’s valentine’s takeaway was to embrace the awkwardness and rejection and to move forward because the sun still sets at the end of the day. Take that awkward love in the air and seize it, whether you are single, in a relationship, a “situation”-ship, happily married, etc. Happy Valentine’s Day!
