Celebrating Black History Month with the BSU

Produced and Edited by: Abbey Raynes

As this year’s theme for Black History month is being ‘Unapologetically Black’, we sat down to discuss what that means for those who are celebrating their identity during this period with the Black Student Union. Deep diving into Black experiences and overall POC experiences at Western, we detail the importance of diversity and belonging at a predominantly white institution. Being one of the points of connection, Tekhia Jones [Public Relations officer of the BSU] and Yonnie Zerfu [Vice President of the BSU] explain what the Black Student Union does and how its organization bridges its community together on campus.
