Starting spring of 2022, Style Spotlight came to fruition and has continued on to a third installment of its series. Capturing fashion at Western through the lens of my camera continues to be one of my favorite aspects of campus, and it was exciting to see how students layered up during the brisk time of the year as we leaned into winter quarter this time around.
Over the course of the two days I set up in the Red Square, the event was second nature to me. As we assembled our equipment and welcomed new and returning participants, this specific quarter brought incomparable joy because it was a beautiful experience speaking to returning folks and hearing they had this event in mind while getting ready that morning. There were even a couple of returning people that particularly stood out to me because of the spellbinding comparison of their first photo to their most recent, only re-emphasizing the power of fashion and how it can bring out a newfound sense of confidence and identity.
